Your reasoning is perfectly sound.
I’ll be happily watching and following.

Well, I waited for the acrylic paint to cure overnight, Today was going to be a big day for me. Can I pull this off or can’t I? After a doctors appointment I immediately went straight into the work room and methodically studied the camoflauge on the Spitfire. The whole kit was assembled and painted with Vallejo Acrylics.
Putting some blue painters tape on the model and shooting this design to the best of my abilities I forged ahead. This is only the second time in my modeling hobby that I utilized masking for a camoflauge motif. The rest of my camoflauge kits were free hand painted.
I still have some touch ups to do as well as clean off any paint not needed. Once that was done, I’ll be spraying the Supermarine with a Model Master Gloss Clear Coat #4638 in preparation for the decals.
Speaking on decals, there was a seller selling the entire Tamiya 1:32 Supermarine Spitfire as individual pieces. Although I thought that this was odd, I now see why this seller on eBay did so. For modeler’s like me in need of specific parts to complete my/their project. In my case the entire decal sheet. I’m sticking with “Gray Nurse” and the attention giving sharks mouth.
Please see below of the progress with the Mk. III.
Toshi
P.S. I must give credit to the "How to Build the Tamiya 1:32 Spitfire.
Here is the Mk. III with a testing sequence to see if I was on the right track.
That looks great, Toshi!
That fresh coat looks awesome, Toshi!
And about that individual piece seller, I think thats a great idea. More people should do that. Would certainly solve missing parts problems.
Thanks M.Brindos! At first it looked kind of bad, but then I realized that there are several types of camoflauge techniques utilized by the Luftwaffe. So I just went with it by using the Tamiya “How to build a Spitfire” magazine. My decal sheet should be arriving in a couple of days.
Thank you for the support,
Toshi
Thank you sir. I did a quick check and it seems this seller has spruces, clear parts, misc. items, and decals for all the top four Tamiya 1:32 sets. The Corsair, Mustang, Spitfire, and the Zero.
I have to agree with you. It would definately make things easier for builders to deal with.
Toshi
That’s looking really nice Toshi. I’m glad you were able to find a set of decals you wanted for the project. Like others I too have redone pait schemes later on when not totally satisfied with the results. I think that’s what makes this hobby so fascinating: It’s a life long learning process.
Thank you sir! I was shocked in that I actually found the kits original decals on a eBay seller. Re-painting is one proggresion forward. The next trial will be decal placement as I’m utilizing the Gray Shark build. I hope I can do justice to this famed aircraft. Yes, I must agree with you, I’ve learned so much in not just modeling but how to process my day to day lifestyle. Thank you sir for the read and replies!

I just stumbled on to this post and I must say, I absolutely couldn’t believe what I was reading up through the September 21st post! That was one of the worst finishing jobs I have ever seen and yet people were running and slobering all over themselves to lick your bootheels! The finish was actually peeling off and people were still kissing butt! Un*#@+ing beleiveable! Absolutely horrible!!!
Then came your Jan. 3rd post and I am glad to see that at least you came to your senses and decided to redo the finish!!! Congratulations, maybe you should rename it The Phoenix!
Really looking sharp, Toshi. It takes courage to respray a competed build. Nice work.

To Big Jim,
I must agree with you that this model was not finished in its entirety. The fact is this is the twentieth build I’ve done was still in need of progression and maturation. Hopefully I could correct any issues and get some exceptible retort on this meager build. oriented with this build. Here are the corrections. Please excuse me pryiyer errors.
Toshi
Much much better!
Thank sir!
Toshi
