Nice job on the rigging!

Nice job. I like seeing these commercial ships - pretty cool. And it floats!

That looks like my mom’s walker at the bottom of the pool!

Nice job on the ship.

Thank you guys. good catch, its my seat at the bottom of the pool.

That’s a really nice-looking ship. Great job on the rigging.

Very nice work! The rigging and the paint scheme look very good.

Very well made, looks very realistic and great photos. . Haven’t heard of this kit before but will have to search it out. Interesting that it floats ok. Could it be motorised, do you think?

maybe on the motor, inside the hull there are bulkheads which might get in the way of a motor.
For the floating i had to add some ballast 1lb otherwise it would flip over.

Thanks! Interesting about ballast. Also good to see a detailed merchant ship instead of the usual warships.
Great job!

Flat-bottomed boats, especially plastic kits, are intrinsically top heavy. You would definitely need ballast to give her a low enough center of gravity. You can usually test the hull when completed and add various amounts of ballast until you get her settle down to the expected waterline before you add the upper decks.
I generally seal all of my hulls, even though NONE of them have ever seen the water. Peace of mind mostly.

This thread has busted loose a long lost memory for me. Back in the early 70’s I built a Lindberg Fletcher class destroyer that was motorized and designed for water use. It had 3 different cogs that would steer the ship in different patterns. Now I want to build it again. I guess I’ll have to scour the internet. Here is a picture of the box:

I haven’t remembered this until now!

Luvspinball is spot on. Battle ships take a lot of weight, 1 lbs, Destroyers about 1oz or so. Only tricky ones are the aircraft carriers, that Island will cause a list to starboard, i try and give it a list to port. If possible I’ll take another measurement with the island before i glue the deck on. My LHS had Lindberg for several years before it disappeared.
