Colors of Polish aircraft.

Hello members of this forum!

The instructions of a Mikro72 1/72 LWS Czapla indicate that:

*Interior color is light green

*Fuselage + upper wings/stabilizers, should be painted khaki.

*Bottom fuselage + wings/stabilizers, should be painted light blue.

With respect to the interior, does any body know if light green is correct/accurate?

Tamiya offers two different khaki options: XF-49 Khaki and XF-51 Khaki Drab. [*-)] would appreciate any suggestions as to which one is correct/accurate.

Thanks in advance for your responses.[Y]

Hello from Poland!

The question you ask is a very hard one - lots of time has passed since the last Czapla was destroyed, along with most documentation. There are not that many photos of the aircraft avaialable, and most of them black and white. To add another level of difficulty, the regulations concerning painting of the aircraft at that times were not very specific, and the companies making the aircraft were hard pressed for time and sometimes just used paint that was available. That all sounds like almost any paint you use could be equally right or wrong here, especially on the interior. The tendency to look for would be something between green and bronze on top, something between blue and grey (more grey) on the bottom surfaces and some dark colour on the insides. Light green is not the best choice here - they would more probably use natural aluminium or silver dope on the parts not directly visible from outside, and dark grey or black or the outside colour on the parts directly visible from the outside.

If you like, you might check out those paint sets, maybe it would help you:

Good luck with your build - it’s not going to be easy! - and please post some photos! Have a nice day
