Just noticed this tonight, looks like the entire line of Color of Eagles is at Great models… they have all the USAAF/RAF/Luftwaffe colors… I think they had IJA/IJN but can’t remember…
anyway for those who love them and those curious, we now have a reliable source for them now… AND they are almost all one sale for like $1.98 at present, going to do an inventory tonight and make a massive order on Sat.

Noticed your post and am familiar with Vallejo but never heard of Color of Eagles. I am not familiar with this brand, can you tell me a little more about this line or is it another name for the sprayable line of Vallejo acrylics? If it is the sprayable Vallejo, was wondering if they are as fragile as the standard Vallejo color line that you brush. Great for brushing but don’t take handling well unless you prime.

hey Chuck! they are made by Vallejo for a company in Miami call Colro of Eacgles of course… I’ve been using them about 6 months and haven’t noticed much pull of with tape etc… I do use primer mostly but I have spray on some on unprimered parts and haven’t had a huge prob with them. I do use the Vallejo thinner with them though and that seems to help. I believe thier thinner has a retarder and some sort of adhesion aid in it… (the way the bottle is worded)
So far I love them! real easy to spray, brush on nicely as well! Dry flat to the surface and even sheen across…

I started using Vallejo for painting detail parts and found it brushes really flat and smooth. Only problem was with the adhesion, they are very fragile on unprimed surfaces. Might have to check Color of Eagles out. Thanks for the response.

chuck, if ya decide to airbrush with them I really recommend using the Valleho airbrush thinner… it’s worth it… it says you can use distilled water but in my opinion the thinner helps a lot…

Understood, been there done that! I just did a 1/48 Martlet Mk.I in the Battle of Britain group build with the typical WWII RAF/FAA disruptive camo and had not one lift up.
I used a whole page of low tack frisket, enlarged the camo from the instructions and layed it over the frisket and cut it out… so you can imagine the amount of adhesive on the plane when I was done! Not to mention all the purple painters tape masking the lower surfaces. (the martlet is an F4F Wildcat in British service just so you know how big the plane was I masked and the amount of tape used to put one of those Spitfire type schemes on it)
Trick is to use a primer, I used the little bottle of MM grey primer and am sold on it… I plan to use it on the Typhoon I am building now even though I am using enamels…
PS - the parts I didnt prime like interior parts had no prob either… I used two or three thin coats to paint the interior, with the Vallejo thinner and it worked like a charm! only pull up was on the prop and that was MM acryl…

OK, I’m sold now [:)]. BTW, any comments/experience with the Vallejo clear/dull coats or varnishes? I hear they are supposed to be the best.

that I haven’t used yet Chuck, although now that you mention it I think I will have to check them out. I’ve used the MM Acryl dull with great results, a few others I know swear by the Polly Scale dullcoat… so maybe acryl is the way to go! it would probably eliminate the need for all the future over the decals after placement as it wouldnt be as destructive to them… although I would probably use it anyway as after trying to get a decal up after futuring over was such an ordeal, I have a newfound awe and respect for Future as a protectant for the paint and decals… It wouldnt even scrape up easily with a toothpick tip! basically I had to windex it down to remove the future then microsol it off!

I forgot to mention chuck, the Color of Eagles line is on sale for like $1.95 a bottle right now on greatmodels… so if you had some colors in mind it would be a good time to get them… not sure if they have the Vallejo thinner though, you might have to order that from another source (there is an ebay store that sells Vallejo outright you could get it from, no bidding, just straight payment) Regularly they are about $2.45 a bottle. I finished my entire martlet and the bottles are basically almost full to the top still, because you use them out of a dropper bottle there is little wasted after spraying…
