Cold War Soviet tank crew figures?

On my Christmas list this year is the Tamiya T-55A kit…that said, in anticipation of getting it (fingers crossed) I have been gathering reference materials, details parts, etc but have hit a wall in terms of finding figures; found WWII era and modern era, but unless I’m blind have been unable to find good Cold War era Soviet tanker figures. Any recommendations?

If you’ve found Modern Soviet Tank Crew figures already you just solved your problem.

The Cold War Era was from the late 1940’s till 1991.

I agree with Mikeym_us above. Their uniforms haven’t really changed over the years. Here are a couple.

DML has one, it goes in and out of prodcution. It is listed as “Taking Orders” at Great Models.

ICM (reboxed by Alanger, Zvezda, and also Eastern Express) does a Soviets in Afghanistan Tank Crew ('79-'88).

Verlinden has a set in resin as well.

Good luck.

You should really really treat yourself with some of the resin figs from Tank Model of Russia. I’ve been lucky enough to review some. Have a look yourself:

They are some of the best anatomically balanced 1/35 figs I’ve ever seen. It’s apparent that the sculptor has studied human anatomy

Depending on whcih decade you plan on modeling your T-55 in, in the 50’s WWII uniforms would not be out of line at all. Photos from the Hungarian Uprising in 1956 show Soviet Forces there in the same uniforms as used in late WWII. Just with AK-47s instead of PPSHs. And there are plenty of new sets of Soviet WWII tankers from Tamiya, TriStar, MiniArt, and others out there.

and the Iraqi military during the Iran/Iraq war and both Gulf Wars used T-55’s along with T-64’s and T-72’s and the tank crews uniforms were also the same as used by the Soviet Military.

The Iraqis had T-64’s??? Or T-62’s? Sources say teh T-64 was not an export tank, but the T-62 was.

The T-64 was manufactured in several “Client State” countries so It may not have been a export tank in Soviet Russia but in China it is exported for the right amount of green.

Though I was suprised that the French didn’t sell the Iraqi’s any of their state of the art MBT’s They supplied them with plenty of Mirage F1 fighters.

I think your getting the T-62 and T-64 confused. The T-62 has seen service with many countries, including Iraq. The T-72 was developed in tandem, to have similar capabilities, with the T-64 and was intended for export and lower priority Soviet units. T-64’s were manufactured solely in the Soviet Union.
