Cold Setup

Hell of a way to start a day, setting up a gun position in the early morning cold!!
Old m4 18ton HST reworked and Peerless 155mm field howitzer. The m4 is in 1/35 scale, measured against a set of plans from Zaloga,I was a happy camper!
I extensively reworked the m4 with a lot of help from Mr. Zaloga,it was a fun build!
Cold Setup!

Crap, I didn’t even know about this one Russ! Very cool!

Very unique subject. The snow looks very convincing. Well done.

That looks very good. How did oyu do the snow. You put the perfect amount. Wel done!

Yet another impressive dio sasd and a very different topic well one.

Ron

Very nice! And like the rest of the folks here, first thing I was hit with was, “This is different!”

Is that tread-vehicle a kit item that comes with the gun?

Thanks everyone, the snow Cubsfan is a first for me in a dio and comes from a fellow
modeler in my club who used this stuff in a huge dio of Bastogne with excellent results.
So the product is sanded pure white tile grout,it sparkles after it has dried and you can sprinkle on by spoon and just hit with water,it already has a gluing agent in it and activates with just water. What I like about this stuff is ease of use and that it is white!
I have used other tile grout colours for Europe and North Africa as well.

Fish-Head, the vehicle is a very old kit from the 60s-80s somewhere in there and was not very good as far as a kit is concerned, very crude, thick plastic, molded on tools and details left off. It was ment to be a moterized (heaven forbid)toy but is in 1/35th scale and again is the only game in town unless one would rather go to resin. It is the 18ton High Speed Tractor M4 and with some work can be turned into a nice model. Look for this kit in the sale bins and I think it`s made by Nitto, not sure on that though.

I guess that living in canada gives you the experiencefor the snow. Just the right amount in the right places

Thanato,I have worked outside in whiteout conditions at 60below F,trudged through 12 ft of snow and froze both of my hands twice,I`ve seen enough winter to last me a life time!

Im cold just looking at it, nice job

Thad

Amazing job. Wish I could find that M4 kit somewhere, or at least a set of plans.

Zo,if you have a collection of Military Modelling look for the issue with the M4 HST story
by Steve Zaloga in it ,its very informative and has drawings in it. A friend of mine lent me a copy, did the vehicle and the book has gone back. I did a check of all of my plans and blueprints to see if I do have anything, unfortunately nothing. If I come up with something Ill be sure to post it for you!

Fantastic job, great dio, another for your big and very good collection
Pedro

Your not kiddin Pedro, since the show/comp in our city in the beginning of September I
have built 18 vehicles some converted and number 19 is about to be painted. A new dio
is in the planning! The latest conversion scratch is a Loyds Carrier!
Thanks for your comment.

Up to your usual high standards Russ! Interesting subject and hard to find also. Been awhile since I’ve been over in the dio’s, so it’s good to see you’re still going strong. Keep up the beautiful work my friend. Semper Fi, Mike
