I am working on a Revell F-14. I spent a lot of time on the cockpit detail and whated to keep it open for display.The problem I have is that when I do a dry fit on the cockpit halfs I see a small gap. I though I could glue the down two half with elmers (so I could remove it move easly after I air bush the frames). However I am afraid I will over spray between the gap and ruin all my cockpit detail. I though about putting a small peice of masking tape inside the gap to block the paint. I figure I would tap the mind of the best model builders of our times at the forum web site to get some more ideas.

Some people suggest filling the cockpit with paper, towels, kleenex, toilet paper. I have heard of using it either wet or dry. I use dry when I do this.

You can use a piece of small moistened (not wet) sponge. Simply compress the sponge, put it in place, and it will expand to fit your cocpit almost perfectly. The moisture will keep any paint from sticking to it.

I’m with Gip. Get some little ‘makeup sponges’ from the cosmetics aisle. They work good for this as well as applying decals.
