Clear overcoat on die-cast model

When I,m not modeling, I buy die-cast scale autos. I’ve collected quite a number of 1/18 racing autos. Since I move quite a lot some of the models are damaged especially the paint. Scratches and chipped paints are common. I hate to see the detailed Tampo printed graphics chip away. I’m thinking of giving the rest of the models gloss clear overcoat. is it ok? I like to hear you advice. TQ

If you use Testors clear, I see no reason why that wouldn’t work.

I think you can better use Tamiya clear coat instead of testors gloss coat.
If you use testors gloss the cars will come out darker.

The problem is Tamiya is laquer, and can react to some types of paint, Testors won’t unless the paint is water base, which on a diecast probably isn’t the case.

I never has got problems with Tamiya clear coat.
I sprayed it over every type of paint. Also restored Diecast models with it.
