I agree with nzgunnie. In fact I used to have the same problem before. I have tried Tamiya, Gunze and MicroScale matt finish and they all don’t work well enough. Humbol matt finish(#49) works great, a little portion can dull the gloss surface easily. But since Humbol matt finish is enamel base, you must take ventilation very seriously.

i mix tamiya flat with future…works a breeze and you have greater flexibility in terms of “how matt” you want your finish.

check this article out, about a third of the way down for some guidelines about the ratios involved…

hope this helps.

For acrylic, I use Polly S clear flat and it works extremely well. Over just Future, I also use Testors Dullcote which also works very well. Wouldn’t risk the dullcote on your model since youv’e already used a clear flat acrylic and the Testors flat is a lacquer.

I too use Polly Scale clear flat and love it. I used to use Testors Dull Coat but found the Polly Scale product to be much nicer to use.

thanks for the help. should i try to take the the clear flat off?
