Cleaning

I have a Passhe VL double action airbrush. When I am finished painting I spray thinners through it & then I take the needle out & clean it. What concerns me is if I put the needle back in & then pull it out again it still has paint on it , I dont know how or if you are supposed to clean the inside, but if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Hah, another Floyd fan, glad to have you aboard. I haven’t used a Pasche, but I clean my Iwata completely every time I paint. (Actually, I like the cleaning part, it’s relaxing to me) What I do to clean the inside is remove the tip and nozzle, dip a pipe cleaner into thinner, and run it through the body. Works like a charm. I’m going to get a set of airbrush cleaning brushes, but it’s going to have to wait a little while. Until then, pipe cleaners work just fine.

I have a Paasche VL and I do exactly as madda suggested… pipecleaner. More precisely, I do this:

  1. Flush and back-flush with thinner.
  2. Remove needle
  3. Use thinner soaked q-tip to clean out the intake (where you put the jar or color cup).
  4. Remove the cap and tip and soak them in thinner.
  5. Run a thinner soaked pipe cleaner down the pipe. If you only get about an inch or two of the pipe cleaner soaked, the rest of it will act as a bit of a dryer as you pull it through…)
  6. Clean tip and cap with q-tip and/or pipe cleaner
  7. Clean color cup (I find this to be the hardest thing to clean…)

Enjoy!!
