I recently watched a modelling video (I can’t remember which exactly) where the modeller cleaned his model by spraying isopropyl alcohol on it, to remove hand oils, dust, etc. Does anyone else do this? I always assumed you had to scrub the model a little in order to get the oils and stuff off.
I highly doubt that spraying IPA removes hand oils.
Wiping it down with IPA would work, but simply spraying it on and letting it evaporate, I’d find doubtful.
Seriously bad idea. Breathing those vapors is going to make you high, then make you sick.

Definitely wipe it down. Doesn’t need to be scrubbed if you are just doing paint prep. I usually wipe it in the same direction as to not spread or smear contaminants around.
spraying IPA over VJ would give you a sticky mess?
I tend to wash down all the sprues before starting (OCD 101 [:O] ) then washing sub-assemblies with dish-soap/washing-up liquid if needed.
IPA or Windex + uncured Vallejo = gooey mess
I agree with Jon_a_ its- dish washing soap does the trick!

@Everyone else: brushing it down wouldn’t get all the hand oils out of nooks and crannies though, would it?
Frankly, I’ve never had problems with hand oils (that I know of), but I’m still paranoid about it 
I soak my sprues in dishwashing liquid, then rinse and let dry. Jon_a_its and Chrisk-k knows what you meant. LOL!
