Classic Plastic: Italeri Panzer IV F1/F2/G. Plates over tracks and the anti-slip pattern

Hi

Just got the old Italeri Panzer IV. At first impression, you would think it was so old (in modelling terms!). I’m quite surprise!

1 question though - on the plates over the tracks, there’s a pressed steel anti-slip pattern. The pattern stops at the vertical edge (probalby due to limitations in the moulding process). Is itmeant to continue around the edge (I would expect it to). How do I model it?

I have that same kit in my stash… I’ll take a look at it tonight, and check my references. Hopefully I can come up with something for you.

I’m assuming that your are talking about the fenders… here’s a pic of one in Aberdeen.

As you can see, it doesn’t go over the edge.
