Classic Airframes????

I’ve been out of the loop for a few months. Just went to look at the CA website and it is no longer active. Did they go out of business? JOHN

From HS:

Oh yes, I digress, the website…, on 02-06-09 at precisely 08:32 PM I posted in this very forum that my website was no longer active.

More recently I decided to also note it on the Website itself.

A point of clarification I have sold 100% of my existing inventory, meaning I do not have, spare parts, decals, instructions, old kits, etc… zipo, zero, nothing, nada.

All kits previously produced by Classic Airframes are now collectibles, as there is no intention or re-releasing any items.

The Kit of the Br.20 (#4131) is “expected” to be ready for shipping in late September. That is the last kit scheduled for release this calendar year. It will be a very limited release.

Mr. Eisenman, who assisted with the research on the subject matter, has a copy of the markings and color guide for the kit and perhaps he would be kind enough to post this, so that our viewers can see the color schemes that will be available in the kit.

To all that read this post and care or not. This does not mean that Classic Airframes is out of business, it simply means that for the time being, as “previously stated”, I will simply not issue any new kits until the economic climate warrants it.

The last 15 years were a lot of fun, in no small part due to all those that supported the concept of the product that I offered. My eternal gratitude…

As for the future, I have no crystal ball, but I did very well in “Business 101”. I also do well in remembering good lines form my favorite songs, and this reminds me of Kenny Rogers…You got to know when to hold them and you got to know when to fold them…(for those to young to remember it was called “The Gambler”).

Once more in case you suffer ADD, Classic Airframes is not out of business…:sunglasses:

As always I hope nobody was offended by this post.

Cheers!!!

Oh that’s a bummer. Classic Airframes kits will now be through the roof on eBay…

That is a bummer. I really like CA’s stuff. Well, I did my part to help… much to my wife’s dismay [:I]

Thanks Mike that clears things up

so long 1/48th scale Hudson!

gary

Well I am glad I still have 29 Classic Airframes kits still stashed away! One of evey WWII subject that they did. I build the Re 2000, Hurricane MkI fabric wing the Lockheed Hudson MkI and I am currently building the Fiat G 55. I could be sitting on a little nest egg but I do’nt think I could let any of them go. I like thier kits to much. I hope the do come back.

As a fond reminder, heres my CA Hurricane and my CA CR.42. Both superb kits.

I need to head of to Evilbay…just to look mind you.

…Guy

At this point in time Great Models, Squadron and Sprue Brothers all have good stock on the more recent CA kits. It will probably take a few months before we see the impact on evil bay so get yours now.

Now I am going to have to get on with the CA kits in my stash to make room for more before collectors ruin the market. I have little experience with resin and PE so have left the CA kits on the shelf till now. Time to learn.

I have a CA 1/48th scale Defiant that I have been dying to build but have been scared by the vac canopy. Received lots of good tips but I wish I had the kit that came with the injection canopy and turret. Apparently mine is an older one. Might be worth something. Hmm…

Bad news Zar. The first release of the Defiant had a bunch of shape issues. That is why their was second boxing done to fix all of the errors. The early release is not really sought after because evryone knows the 2nd issue was better. Sorry buddy.[:(]

Hhmmmm, so the good news is CA lives and wil/might continue operations when the economy gets better.

But the bad news is that nobody knows when this is…better get me a 1/48 Fokker D.21 soon

thats a real shame,i like their kits.

i wasn’t gonna build my 2 hurricanes for a while and it now looks like i wont be building them for a long long while…

I was only interested in specific subjects in their catalog, anyway, which have long been out of production: the Boeing F4B-4, the Curtiss F11C Goshawk and SBC Helldiver, the P-43 Lancer. I’ve had to rely on the secondary market (eBay and IPMS shows) to find the kits. CA’s shutdown doesn’t appear to have affected the price on the secondary markets, for the examples I’ve seen.

…and my CA SM79 converted to a torpedo bomber:

[:O] Beautiful!
