Classic Airframes Polikarpov I-15 1/48 scale

I am an average modeler with maybe intermediate skills and I do most of my stuff OOB.

I picked up this kit at a local show and I am going to start building her next.

My question is, I want to build the winter version with the skis, but I am at a loss for a simple way to make the straps for the skis. I am not much a scratchbuild guy, but after using some wire for the wing rigging, I was wondering what may work for the straps.

I did not include a pic of drawing on the cover of the kit which shows the straps but it basically looks like one of those old chest expanders connected to a single cable (you know-the 3 spring coils connected to the two handles that the body builders would do chest fly exercises with)

Any suggestions to this relative beginner would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Swede

Well Svengoolie I do not knoe of a good way to replicate the spring mechanisim on the skis but having build a couple of the Classic Airframes offerings you need to know they do require some more advanced skills to complete than a typical kit. If you notice there are no locating pins for the fuselage haves, nor are there and positive mounting points for the wings of stabilisers either. These must be fabricated by the builder to ensure a strong mounting point for these items. They typically take alot of fiddling about with to achive a good fit on some parts but if you stick with it in the end you will have a nice model, good luck.
