I just picked up a set of clamps at Walmart, they are the spring-loaded type and have suction cups attached so you can mount them on any smooth surface. A cheap third hand.[:D]
HEY,
I found some plastic clamps that are small enough for scale model use. They work great to hold thing together. I also use reversed clothes pins. They work pretty good, and it is cheaper than buying clamps.

The spring ones are great-- but Sears has rachet clamps that are perfect if you want to clamp together more delicate pieces. You can keep them a bit looser-- or tighten them right up. I use the smaller ones for wing tips or horizontal stabilizers…and the larger ones are usually great for clamping fuselage halves together. I think I paid $18 for 4 small ones and 2 large ones.
I use some of those black metal binders for keeping a bunch of paper together. Not good for delicate parts though.
Over here we use either small → tiny clamps, or Plastic clamps that come in 2 sizes.
Prices are decent too, 80 cent for 4 small or 2 big ones.
The Plastic Clamps got movable grip plates that swivel a bit giving them a nice grip even on concave surfaces.
Sears has a great set of small plastic clamps in assorted sizes
I have these mini bar clamps (Quick Grip). I can set the ammount of pressure and the have a quick release.
I haven’t used them on models, I am still used to using rubber bands.
Found some great one-handed ratchet clamps at Home Depot-with soft rubber tips and quick release-about 3.50 for small and 5.50 for large!
I use the small Quick Grips and some small spring clamps I found by the checkout of the local Autozone.
Just used them for the first time, they work great.[;)]
