Civilian Gun Truck

Yet the front wheel skirts would not allow any tight turns. I googled Afghanistan guntrucks and nothing remotely like this turned up. Based on a single, grainy photograph, I’d be very suspect this was a real world vehicle.

Where did you find the photo?

As you can see in the image there is a print error that occurred. A “seam” runs from the bottom to top just in front of the ds front tire. The image is scanned from a newspaper and has been sized up. This is evident as you can make out the large print from the opposite side of the paper in the sky above the trailer. The only change made to the image was a touch up above the cab where the “seam” was ugly. It was done with the spray can in paint. This truck was used by civilian security contractors in Afghanistan.

Edit: I removed some distasteful comments. My appologies.

A friend of my brother sent him the picture from a newspaper.

I don’t understand what not believing this to be a true vehicle has to do with respect… If someone finds this in suspect because of it’s ridiculous design then they are free to their interpretation!!! Sorry man, but this thing looks stupid!

The respect comes from the idea that I would have some sort of hoax truck. That is what offends me. I think the truck is ridiculous. The truck is funny, but it is real.

ummm… no one was slapping you man! Aj was from what I see talking about the TRUCK and NOT YOU… you found the pic, whether you think this real or not has nothing to do with the reality of the vehicle. did you see this truck in person? Probably not! I see UFOs in the papers, doesn’t mean I think they exist.

I think this is all getting a ittle out of control now. I took offense to the comment regarding the credibility of an image. If you posted an image and someone said something about it not being real you may have felt the same way. No, I did not actually see the truck. I have never seen UFOs in a newspaper either. I’ve never scene the M6 heavy tank but I know it was built. I think it would be best to leave this as it is now, being that Aj is not even involved at this point. I thought it was an interesting picture so I put it up so people could look at it, nothing more. I was upset about what he said and what you said afterwards.

Let’s drop it and get back to keeping this place nice and happy.[:)]

Sorry again. I see you were inspired my that one post.

So it looks like the fuel tanks are pretty exposed and unprotected. Bang! BOOOOOOM! Or just leak…

Too be honest I don’t care wether the damned thing is real or not, I wish I had the skills to build it.

Will

Guys, by no means have I been around the country that much, but in 195 days in Afghanistan I never saw anything even remotely like that. The closest was French SF with their versions of M35s and about 6 different MGs mounted, and old car seats just welded all over the place, cam nets, jerry cans, kit and dudes hanging off of them. That was Mad Max stuff right there.

Its also on Fort Eustis’s web site.

I just think this thing is amusing.

Ok, fair enough. I skimmed after reading the first post.

Still, what good does the camo netting do?

Looks cool… I guess. It is REALLY impractical. I thought we might all have a hoot about the Road Warriors truck. My computer is full of photos of nonsense, so I thought I’d throw it out hear before I deleted it.
