In my opinion, you’ve got a great start to the weathering. The black washes really dirty it up and emphasise (sp?) the details. I think with some more layers of weathering this could look GREAT. Maybe some light chipping, a brown wash looks especially good over green as well. maybe smoe worn metal, light rust…that kind of stuff. There’s nothing wrong with heavy weathering, but I thinkt hat the heavier something is weather, the more variation you need, if that makes any sense. Nice job so far though.

Being no weather expert myself, I’d say you’re on the right track. Perhaps the black, or a dark brown, would have made a fine pinwash for the panels, but not really a great choice for an overall wash. Some browns and variations for an overall wash would compliment your work. Keep it up, your so close.

I love the churchill, its one of my favorite tank of WW2, there one at disply at a near by museum.

Your looks almost as real as it. Well done!

jadpather you are on the right track with the weathering but here are a few tips on how to use the washes effectivily.on a tank allways use a sand or light brown wash first.use a number 4 or 5 brush to do it with and smear the whole thing with it.if it starts mixing with the main paint then use lighter stokes an blend the wash with the color in one stoke, then let dry.once this is done set over night then resume with another wash of just a darker tint of brown.wash lightly, then let dry overnight.the last wash will be a very thinned out black and use a number 2 brush or smaller.this will be the nook and cranie wash.load up brush and let flow in the edges, you will go wow at the effect.washes are a blending of paints to make that tank go,i have been used.i hope this helps you in your next one.you did a good job on the chruchill and i will have to get me one or two soon.Digger

You might want to do a little dry brushing to bring out the details.

Great start, Jag. Looks like you have some brown/rust in there, too, on top of the fender. Are you using acrylic or oil wash for your black? And it looks like you have some interior done? Would like to see more pics, keep it up![tup]
