My parents finally decided that they’ve had enough of my nagging, and to shut me up and got me one of these:
I’m so Happy…[swg] Hehehe…
I got a good price on this too (concidering i didn’t have to pay for shipping): Php4540.00. That’s roughly $82 USD. Trouble is, there is no hose… so i need to find this next - and a compressor (but I’ll do this when i have money of my own! Either that or nag them to get me one! [(-D] but that could take years…) For now, I’m going to be using a compressor and hose that was “donated” to my IPMS by one of the members…
MikeV: Anything i sould know about this particular airbrush, O-Wise-one? Hey, I did warn you a couple of months back! [:p]
Congratulations Shrike. [;)]
You should be able to paint most anything you want with that Crescendo my friend. I have never used that particular model but I am familiar with them from others who use them.
I would use the metal color cup myself as it uses much less paint and is easier to clean. The jars are for jobs needing more paint such as T-shirt airbrushing, which that airbrush was designed for.
You’ll enjoy it. I don’t have a 175 but I have 3 other Badger brushes and have been completely happy with them.
One word of advice … Find another piece of plastic tubing the same size as the one in your bottle, but a little bit longer. Heat it up with a hair dryer or heat gun and bend it slightly so that it aims right at the bottom corner of the bottle. Trim it so that the bottom of the tube is just barely off the bottom of the bottle. The way it is not you will have to have a good bit of paint in the bottle for the tube to pick it up. With a longer tube aimed at the corner of the bottle you can slurp virtually every drop of paint out of the bottle.
i’m proud for you shrikes!!! now, we can’t wait to see those stellar paint jobs that your gonna be able to achieve with that airbrush friend, so get busy!! later.
Cogratulations on your first AB. I don’t know much about this model but it looks like a good one. Enjoy learning to use it & adding a new dimension to your modeling skills.
I went and tried out my airbrush today at my IPMS Group Build using their hose and compressor, and it works beautifully! I can’t belive i didn’t invest in one sooner! [:p]
What i need to worry about next is a compressor. The most common compressors here are the small diagphragm compressors, and i’m told that the air pulses along with the diagphragm, and there’s no way to control the pressure without a regulator… Now the question: I just want to ask if a good regulator and moisture trap will solve these problems?
No. The only way to stop the pulsation of a diaphragm compressor is to install some sort of air tank to even out the airflow. You could convert a small fire extinguisher bottle for this use or get a small airtank of some sort.
