Check out this airbrush work

This is slightly off-topic but it relates to airbrushing.
Check out the paint jobs on these trucks that Mickey Harris did as they are incredible! [:0]
I used to have a video tape where he painted some wolves on the back of a leather jacket, but this is way beyond that!
Have you ever seen a $130,000 paint job? Look at the Kenworth tractor in the middle.
You have to click on each individual truck picture on this web site to see the paint job on each one at the bottom of the pages.

This guy is way beyond what I can do. [bow]

Mike

That is amazing work…2000 hours on the painting and 3600 on prep work for the Dragonmaster is total dedication!

Regards, Dan

WOW!!! [bow][bow][bow] OK, so now who’s going to scratchbuild the Dragon???

Ok, I’m not the smartest guy in the world, and I’m ok with that.

But I really don’t thing he did all of that with an Omni 4000…

Maybe the 5, but not the 4…

Where does it say he did it all with an Omni 4000? [%-)]

Mike

I wouldn’t worry about scratchbuilding it, I just wonder who is going to produce the decals or better yet, freehand it with an airbrush. [:D]
Better buy a Sotar 20/20 and get some urethanes and get to practicing. [;)]

Mike

I don’t know Tweety, the 5000 has a smaller cup on it, so he had to use a 4000…[:p][:D]

I’m pretty sure he’s kidding Mike…isn’t he!!!

I don’t know, that’s why I asked. [:D]

Mike

I apologise for my attempt at humour

Living in the desert makes one’s funny bone extremely dry.

See, did it again[][][]

Wow, that’s pretty crazy work. Waaaaayy beyond what I can do, that’s for sure. Maybe in about 20 years…

Sorry that I didn’t see the humor tweety1. [:D]
Maybe if you had put a wink smiley after your post I would have understood the humor. [;)]

Mike

Amazing, Mike.

Well, humour aside[;)], it would be truely awesome to have that much dedication, and show it on such a large scale.

The prime mover dragon scheme has so much intricate detail it’s amazing.

I wonder how many other people out there can manage the same kind of skill?

Tweety,

Surprisingly, there are quite a few highly skilled airbrush artists out there, but I consider only a handful as good as Michael Harris who painted this truck.
Some other awesome artists are these:

Dawne Holmes: http://www.dawneholmes.com/

Your airbrushing is very good. Your cars especially. I just bought a new airbrush and am going to paint, well, everything actually! Have you ever used a projector? I am thinking about getting one but dont know how well they work.

Thanks for the compliments. Yes I do use a projector because frankly I am not that great at drawing without one. [:D]
I use an Artograph Super AG100 which they don’t make anymore. The newer version of mine is called the Super Prism. They have them at Dixie Art: http://dixieart.com/Artograph_Projectors.html

You might want to keep an eye on Ebay for a deal on one. I have seen some projectors like mine go for a very good price. Here is one like I have: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3803160929&category=15257

The cheaper projectors are not worth it unless you are really short on funds. They do not produce bright enough images to see well enough to trace your lines.

I hope this helps.

Mike

PS I like your screen name. I have always been a Thor comic book fan and I still have over 300 in my collection. [;)]

We have some pretty talented artists right around here. Mike, of course, but also Steve Barba. I saw a post by him on the Diorama forum with a link to his web site. Take a look at some of his aircraft nose art: http://www.thunderboltgallery.com

Scott,

He does do some very nice work.

Thanks

Mike
