Cheap ww2 era civilian vehicles

I am curious if anyone has any idea where to find cheap civilian vehicles in 1/35 for dioramas. I have seen some models but I don’t want to pay an arm and a leg just to make it look destroyed. Any help would be fantastic.

Best I can think of is either the Simca 5 or Citroen from Tamiya. Either one should be found for under $20.

Jack

Interesting, its always a shame to destroy a model but at that price it wouldn’t be too bad. Thanks a lot!

I have been successful in purchasing 1/32 vehicles on E-Bay. Old Pyro & Life Like for the 1920’s, 30’s, 40.‘s; Lindberg & Revel for the 40’s 50’ 60’s; and there are some other makes around. At times you can buy a junk lot that has vehicles that are already busted up, missing parts, wheels etc. that would be great to rework even further at a good price.

While not 100% match, when it is bits and pieces it can work.

That sounds really good actually but aren’t the scales a little off?

The scales are close enough where it isn’t noticeable. I have mixed 1/32 cars and aircraft with 1/35 figures and armor often and they come out looking fine. You can also mix 1/32 and 1/35 figures together. The key is to keep constant sized items (canteens, rifles, ammo pouches, etc.) in the same scale. People come in different sizes, but not gear.

A couple examples.

1/32 VW with 1/35 figs and armor.

1/32 Land Cruiser w/1/35 armor and figs (Sorry for the crappy pics, they were with an old digicam)
