I was at Hobby Lobby and found in the jewelry craft area packages of 100 “eyepins” for about five bucks. These pins are made of some bendable metal material. In the modeling section of the same store I found some K&S 1/16 brass tubes. The eyepins fit into the brass tubes as though they were designed to do just that. Also, the eyepins are exactly the width of a #69 drill bit in a pin vise. On my current 1/48 B-17F I used the eyepins to attach all the open doors, I used them to make pitot tubes, I used them to attach a scratch built rear wheel system (using the ring end of the eyepin as attachments for an axle as well as to hold the rear wheel) and to attach numerous pieces in the interior of the aircraft. I used them for hydraulic door openers on the bombay doors of the scratch built bombay of my B-17F.

I have used those pins to help make working steering on 1/24 1/25 scale cars and trucks. You never know what you may find that you can use in the aisles at some of these craft stores.
