CH-53E ????

I have been away for a while and was wondering if anyone has info on
the 1/35 E. It was due out last Oct.
The best to all

Well Davey5, I think the kit you are referring to was to be produced by a company called Night Flight Models.
I checked their web page about a week ago and it hadn’t been updated in over a year. I just NOW tried to go to the site and it ain’t there no more.
So, I guess we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed that someone else will produce it.

Thanks for the up date chopper fan

No more Night Flight? Hmmm… Chief Owl, you out there???

I have a few 1:1 scale. I’ll let one or two of them go at a discount. How does $20,000,000 sound?

Night Flight has relocated to the US. Give him some time to get settled, eh?

Chief Snake

haha… you can keep em! When I was flying in em those things rode like broncos compared to their lil brothers the 46’s… although they are an impressive piece of machinery!

I’ll never forget when we were bringing a patient out of the black sea on one… felt a few hot stings on my shoulder, looked up and saw something leaking… crew chief said it was normal, and if it stopped leaking we should start worrying!

::sigh:: I’d love to build one too just for old times sake… put her next to a 46…

" When I was flying in em those things rode like broncos compared to their lil brothers the 46’s…"

I always thought the 53 rode comparitively smooth, like a Caddilac. The one ride I took in a 46, the rear end hopped around the sky like it didn’t want to follow the front. Riding in the 53 all you hear is a steady drone, but a 46… whap whap whap whap.

I’m definately a 53 fan, but I’ll give props to the 46. Most of the 46 airframes in service now were in the Marine Corps before my father was.

Chris.
I don’t want anyone thinking that I am or was disrespecting Mr. Beasley. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this project works out. But, some kind of update would be nice. It seems that whenever questions were asked of Chief Owl, the only responces seemed just a tad bit sarcastic.
As I stated in my earlier reply, I have been checking the website on a regular basis with no update of any kind for well over a year. Then, it’s gone. I just checked again to make sure I wasn’t putting my foot in my mouth.
I also know that Chief Owl was relocating to North Carolina. I also know that, in his own words on another site, he has been here since at least September 11, 2004. I also realise that it takes time to get things up and running, I used to own my own business. But, he could have at least noted that on the website.
Again, I say, I hope it comes to past. We, as modellers, have been fortunate that Trumpeter is going ahead with the Chinook. But, the MH-53 is an ambitious project that just may have to be done by a cottage company, for lack of a better title.
And, by the way, I like your products, also. I hope someday I can say the same thing about Nightflight.

It wouldn’t be much of a problem for me to get ref photos for CH-53E builders out there.

However, cockpit photos I cannot do.

You might try contacting Chief Owl. At one time that was a big hold up on the project. He couldn’t get good detail shots for his molds.

I’d be glad to help, how can I get in touch with him

At the top of this post their is a tool bar that looks like this.

Forum Index | Active Topics | Members | Profile | FAQ

Click on members and do a search for oldhooker. You can then click on oldhooker’s profile and find a link to email him.
Frank should know how to get in touch with Chief Owl. I just did a search for Chief Owl and it said that their was no such member. But, I know he used to post on here.
But, anyway, Frank (oldhooker) should be able to help you out.

done

Hey guys,

The last I heard from William he was about to move to NC, but I haven’t had any contact with him since then, so I’m afraid I can’t help you. Sorry.

Take care,
Frank

1/35 scale CH-53E, huh. WOW, that thing would have a rotor span of about 2 feet! What a monster. I would hope that it is updated to current specs on the real thing. The USMC has added a bunch of stuff to the plane over the last 10 years. That is the biggest problem with the Italeri 1/72 version. It doesn’t have the chaff/flare dispensers, IR missile launch sensors, IR tracker ball on left nose, etc. Imbedded GPS and things like that on the instrument panel wouldn’t be visible in 72nd anyway, but 1/35 would be neat.
