I remember seeing a Canadian Hornet done up in a low vis Tiger Meet scheme from the late 80s or early 90s. It was a 439 sqn, machine from back when the Canadian Armed Forces still had bases in Germany. Really eye catching and I think Arrow Graphics made decals for it in 1/144, 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32.
These aren’t tiger birds, but since we’ve gotten onto colorful Canadian Hornets[:p], I thought you might like to take a look at these two from 2002. Leading Edge makes decals for both of them in 1/72 and 1/48. I suspect 1/32 is coming soon if not here already.
This was the scheme done up to mark 20 years of Canadian Hornet operations.
And here is a scheme from the Aerospace Engineering and Testing Establisment (AETE) There was also a single seat Hornet done up like this.

Yeah, that 20th edition is also really cool. I’ve seen decals for that at leadingedge.com. I think I might do that one in 1/48. Thanks for the pic.

An interesting note about the AETE scheme: I thought it was something special to mark an anniversary but it isn’t. It’s their new standard scheme, apparently it stems from the fact that they do work for civilian clientelle as well as the military testing, so they wanted something a bit more splashy and corporate looking to get more civilian intrest in their services.
I’ve seen both single and dual seat Hornets done up like this as well as a CT-133 T-Bird and a CH-146 Griffon Helicopter wearing adaptations of that scheme.
The Canadian Hornet schemes are pretty neat stuff. I’ve seen the Tiger Meet bird as a build and it was spectacular. I haven’t seen the other as a build yet. Any takers out there?

It’s good to see that 439 Sqn. Griffon with a tiger on it, nise to see they’re still in the Tiger Meet game even though their fighter unit days in Germany are behind them and they’re back in Canada now.
Not too crazy about that tiger on the KC-135 though, looks a bit slap dash to me. Can you imagine a KC-135 with tiger stripes nose to tail? Couldn’t be that hard to do, NATO did a gorgeous colour bird E-3 a few years back.

Here’s another bit of Canadian Hornet artwork I found in my collection.
I took this at an airshow in 1998, its special tail markings to mark the anniversary of a roundel specific to the RCAF.
I don’t think it was ever made into an aftermarket decal, but I could be wrong about that
