CDF Huey 205

ESCI UH-1 Huey; Updated to Civilian Model 205 ++

The ++ means this copter has the up-rated engine, main transmission and the 212 series rotor head. This is an industry standard to 205’s in the fire fighting community. There is very little visible difference in the 205 and the ++ series. Most notable is the rotors and the intake debris covers. I used fireball models cabin doors and decals. Enlarged the jump door windows and made new clear parts. The aluminum kick plate behind the pilots’ door is cut foil. The intake cover was cast from a master made several years ago for an LA county copter I was working on and experimenting with casting parts. The water tank is from Cobra Company, with a few modifications for this specific copter. The entry steps are also the foam tanks for the concentrated foam fire suppressant, there is a small pump attached to the tank and hoses leading to the water tank. Also attached to the steps are the forward flashing lights. On the underside are the drop warning sirens, spot light, cable cutters, mirrors and antennas. Attached to the water tank is the snorkel hose and pump, this is suspended by wire links and a tie down ring at the back of the fuselage. The skids are shaped and soldered brass rod and sheets.

Hope you enjoy

Hi Glen ,

The level of detail and scratchbuilding on your fire fighting huey is just amazing ;

Very impressive work , Sir [t$t]

Kind regards

John .

Hi Glen,

Nicely detailed Huey you got there. I like the scheme and the level of weathering you put into this build. The scratch building is incredible.

Cheers,

Richard

WOW! I worked around those Helos for many years and you really nailed it! [:D[ The weathering is perfect…not too much! They really do take care of their aircraft! Heck they are still flying old S-2s regularly. Great job.
