Ive only built 7 kits since my return to modelling and most of them have been shown on here .Id like to say they all took me ages to build but truth be told a few of them were for MAD builds , but some weremore labour intensive.I guess the cat owners know whats coming next.
My delightful little 10 month old kitten has developed a fascination for my wifes bonzai tree which sits on top of a shelf in our hobby room the shelf that plays host to my models.Said cat has also figured out how to open doors. I awoke to find 4 out of the 7 kits had been trashed as the kitten fell off the shelf and grabbed anything it could to stop its fall.It also pulled down a few books on top of a couple of current projects.
The kitten is ok no damage done, and the kits bar 1 can be fixed , the bonzai tree however looks like it may die time will tell.
Telling this is part of my therapy it stops me screaming obsenities and calling the kitten "that f$%*&@g cat.
Ouch
In my house, by next month, there would be a custom aircraft kit done in cat hide.
thats a joke people, I don’t want to wake up tomarrow with PETA picketing my house.[:-^]
Well I know how that goes. But one day while getting new roofing on the house, five of my models fell off my shelf approximately seven feet and sustained minor damage. I was glad that they weren’t totally destroyed.
We always ended up cat sitting for my in-laws fur covered demon with claws. This little tyrant too had a facination with jumping up on small shelves. The Alabama in the picture once had a full set of sails and was originally built for a client. Well, I built a small shelf about 5 feet up to display it on the wall in our living room to show it to the new owner, when the day before I was to show it, this little fur covered reign of terror tried to jump up on the shelf. Needless to say, when it got to about eye level to the shelf, he decided to abort, panicked, got its front paws tangled in the rigging, pulling the ship with him to the floor. He then, in shear panick in knowing that since he survived the fall, his life was still about to end, ran for the basement, taking the said ship with him.
When I came out of the bedroom upon hearing the crash, I was speachless, and my wife ran back into the bedroom to hide the key to the gun safe. She then called my friend to come and take me out for a beer.
I never saw the cat again. Lucky cat.

My wifes cat has 7 kills painted on his fur. Does that make him an ace?

Cats & models on open shelves don’t mix well.

Wisconsin is on the right track!!!
hey it’s better than my friend throwing my model to a wall and saying “sheesh I was just trying to be funny! you gotta lessen your stress level!”
what is he a moron?! this is no lie. it smashed to pieces and I don’t even want to fix the barrel.
I’m sorry about your models
Some friend.
I’d have bounced him off the walls a few times.
“Hey your right! it did lower my stress level, What are you so upset about? I was just trying to be funny.” [:-,]
I’d say he be getting one hell of a super wedgie[}:)]
yeah, my playmate group ditched him because practically all of them model, and the ones who don’t hate him anyway
We just got a 7 week old kitten from a local shelter and she’s a terror, with no fear(Just ask our golden retriever, who has been assaulted on a regular basis for the past week). I’ve been very careful to keep the basement door closed so she stays away from my bench and completed models because I know, given the opportunity, she’d be up there wrecking the place.
My cat doesn’t bother my models. She does help find parts that were launched by the tweezer. How she sees them and finds the parts is beyond me but without her, some of my kits would be missing some small parts.
shweet!
I love my cat, he’s a great companion and I wouldn’t trade him for anything. However, my workshop is in the garage, which in a separate building from our apartment. So I’m safe in that regard.
My wife and I have already decided that for the sake of fumes, if/when we buy a house my workshop will be detached then as well. Thus, there will be no cat presence in my workshop.
On the other hand, for some reason, I find his fur everywhere…does wonders to a canopy with fresh Future on it. [:D]
Never have any prolems with my cat, he’s to lazy
THAT DAMN CAT!!!
I love my little FFFs… but they are a bit too inquisitive for their own good sometimes…
Fade to Black…
I’ve got one that likes to shorten my tank barrels. [B)]
My wife and I have two cats (both from pound or shelter). They both don’t really bother my models, but the younger does have a taste for Future covered canopies. I had a Tomcat about 75% finished when I left it on the table, well I came back and find the windscreen missing. After a little searching, I find it on the carpet minus about 1/3 of the acrylic. Good thing I had a spare.
Couldn’t stay mad at her; besides she drinks beer, plays fetch, and watches the History Channel with me. [:D] (Yes, she’s a cat, not a dog).
Deasmex/Scott: Sorry about the demise of some of your models.
I really love cats, in fact I grew up with one that made it a point to rumage my shelves. My saying goes like this; if it wasn’t for cats, we’d run out of excuses to build more models[:D]
