How do you get a carbon fiber effect by painting?

Decals, of course, are the best bet, but I have approximated the color with gunmetal color paint.

Easiest is gunmetal or metallic grey through netting (over SGB base, of course). To create different effects, you can add some smoke - maybe even mix in other transparent colours.
