i read somewhere here that someone made a capillary action glue pen outta a hyperdermic needle. could someone please explain to me how i would go aboput making one of these?

I just sent this information in response to your email, but for any others who are interested, here’s my note:
Yes, that’s what I used. I might have gotten lucky and just got one that is the right size, but it works great. Here is a link to a picture of it:
I used a Dremel tool to cut the point off, and then used it to chamfer the edges and polish the area where I cut it. The result is a sort of rounded tip. The handle is just a piece of scrap plastic tubing that I glued into the needle so I’d have something to hold onto. I don’t have to hold it in the glue bottle or suck on it or anything. I just dip it in the bottle and the needle will fill with glue. Touch it to the joint and the glue will pull right out of it.
I’m not sure how they number needles, but the one I use measures 0.028" (0.71mm) in diameter. I’m not sure how big the hole in it is, but it’s pretty tiny. I hope they are easier to get in Oz than they are here. Our government decided that it they controlled access to needles it would help our drug problem. It didn’t work, but getting needles like this one is difficult. I went to the doctor to get an injection once and told her that I wanted to keep the needle. She wouldn’t let me have the old one, but gave me an unused one

Or you could buy a Floquil Applicator or FlexiFile (makes one I believe) Applicator …They’re anywhere from $5-$7 U.S.

That would be too easy[8D] Actually I ordered the glue and forgot to order an applicator, so there I was with glue and no way to apply it except a brush. I scratched up the hypo thing and it worked fine so I never got around to ordering a Touch-N-Flow applicator.
Tominator tried the same thing and never could get it to work. I guess I just got lucky, but mine works like a charm.

ok i though my prob was with the rounding of the tip, but after speaking with music city i know thats not the prob, so i was thinking maybe it was the size of the tube attached ( i used a bic pen casing) coz on musiccitys + the official app theyre both pretty thin compared to the bic pen. so i might try again, but theres a model train expo happenin in my area this weekend so im gonna check it out and keep my eyes peeled coz ive fallen in love with tamiya extra thin cement…the stuff is sssssooooo good…

hey ppls… my mums a nurse and she brought me home a sh*t load of needle tips, even some that already have a bevelled tip, used for iv’s i think) well i got experimenting with theflat tip needle, and it wouldnt do anything with water, so i though its that. i gave it a go with tamiya extra thin cement, and it worked beautifully… so the problem all along was the water i was trying it with!! i knew the answer would be something smple…
well anyways now i have 2, one thick and the other very thin, they are the bomb, precise application everytime!!
