Can't delay any longer

I’ve been putting off masking all the clear parts but have no choice now, everything else is done. Progress has been a little slow with a vacation trip and now some medical stuff but have been able to finish the panel lines, general weathering, primary exhaust staining and dull coat.

And for those who don’t know what this is yet here are the basic stats;
MPM 1/48 multi-media Vacuform kit of Tupolev SB-2M 103 “Little Katie”

Lookin real purty Swanny. Thanks for sharing.

EGADS!!!

Is that a pilot figure these tired old eyes see in “Little Katie”?

Wow, I thought I was the only one into that… [;)] Beautiful job Swanny, thanks!!

Take care,
Frank

wow looks so good , i like the weathering.
I still don’t have the cajones to do a vacform kit.

Forget Mike, I want to be like Swanny! [:D]

Hope everything’s ok medically Swanny… model looks great though.

Starting to look really good.

Can’t wait to see it with the clear stuff on.

I hate masking canopies too.

Karl

Love the weathering

Thad

Looks awesome as usual Swanny!
The weathering looks very nicely done.

Swanny, I wonder if this is related to two MPM kits I had several years ago. Part vac-form, part injected, part photoetched. The injected parts were arranged in that radial type sprue used by limited run kit makers. It came with Polish markings. I got this kit on sale for half price (it retailed for 40.00 at my LHS at the time). There was a similar 1/48 MPM kit of an FW-189. I never got to build them. After I’d admired them in the LHS for months before buying them when they went on half-price sale, on the way home someone stole them from right under my nose on the subway. I have no idea what possible use a thief could have for two obscure model kits. But it really hurt, because I haven’t seen the same kits anywhere since.

Looks great, mate.
Thanks for sharing - you’ve certainly travelled a long road with this one…

Looking sweet, Swanny!

WOW swanny. I don’t know what to say about that ! but well done ! [tup]…can i make a skin of your Tupolev SB-2M 103 for my IL2-Sturmovik Forgotten Battles simulator?? there is a Tupolev SB-2M 103 in IL2 FB as well.

put in her in the battle i’ll post a link to where you download it on here once it’s done if you have the game too you can download it as well. I’ll put my P-47D in the battle on my computer as well once the plastic model is done…

That sounds pretty cool. I have IL2 FB also but haven’t played it for a long time. I’m afraid the SB-2 would not be much of a challenge to shoot down since it was slow and not very manuverable compared to the other period aircraft. It had the sad distinction of being the most shot down aircraft of the Great Patriotic War.

Shrikes, yes this is from the same series as your waylaid models. That is so sad to hear but you know what they say … what goes around, comes around so in some manner, some way, some time that thief will most certainly get his just rewards. I have a few other kits from this line including an Fw-58C.

Ajacketsfan - thank you, just got home a few hours ago and all test results were good so you guys are going to be stuck with me building these esoteric kits for at least a few more years so get used to it.

Oldhooker - yes indeed, this is fully crewed. Whenever I build something in-flight I do my best to crew it appropriately.

Everybodyelse - thanks for your kind words. I find the best group of modelers hang out here and am proud to be a memeber of this group.

nice looking weathering you got goin’ on swanny!! hope everythings well with you. if its your head, don’t even worry about it, it ain’t never gonna be right!![;)] you’ve sniffed too much glue to go back now!! later.

great swanny!!!

like always…keep posting. hope all is ok

reagards,

manny

The Tupolev SB-2M 103 was a medium bomber I think. But they say the best soviet ground attack aircraft during the WWII was the IL2 Sturmovik. They had the P-47D too i think. I like the P-47D’s in the American colours better though. I’ll move on to my USN hellcat after I’m done with my P-47D. Looking to get my hands on the Australian P-51D, P-40M and the F/A-18C the one in service with the Royal Australian Air Force right now too.
