Well?
If the airplane is on the flight deck of the Zuiho, then open.
Otherwise depends on the kit.
I think it depends. Both have their virtues. If it is a detailed cockpit that you spent time on and are happy with: OPEN. If it is a poorly detailed cockpit or you are not pleased with it : CLOSED.
Thats the way I see it.

hmmmm, I like an open canopy with no pilot. If the kit allows it of course. Oh, and it depends on if I’ve done a good enough job detailing the interior…otherwise, closed canopy with tinted windows…
Wait a minute, has my “landing gear down” post been hijacked by other posts? Brilliant tactics Manny! [:D[
Open canopies = broken canopies so I almost always close them up. Except on the He162 I recently finished up - I figure the engine strapped on its back will make it a little less likely to be broken off.
I usually close them. (My Corsair I did not glue shut though, left that sliding.) My reasoning is the fact that I am never really happy with my 'pit, and I am VERY bad at painting up tiny little replicas of humans. I’ll even do a wheels up, canopy closed, and no driver. (remote control?)
On the other hand, Manny, from the work I’ve seen of yours, (just taking a ‘stab in the dark’ here), you will probably do a great looking 'pit, then I would leave it open to show off my work. Bu that’s just one mans opinion.

Manny has posted photos of his excellent He-111 and white nose Fw-190,

Manny is well known for what he does with his fiddly bits.
open,show off the office space.
Pretty basic on this one. Open if I want to show of a nice cockpit and closed if the cockpit is a POS.

I prefer closed canopy as an open canopy usually disturbs the asthetics of the Aircraft. Still, I build about 25% of my birds with open canopy.

Open… Bad (or no) 'pits are easily fixed up with some sheet, strip and other fiddly bits, and I vac-form new canopies if the kit part is a one-piece…
Simple for me…If it’s flying obviously closed. Otherwise open because they look good that way.

About half and half. Depends on how well I do the interior.
