Canadian armour

If you want to build Cdn. armour the best kits to use are tamiya’s leopard 1 A4,M-577,M-113,and M-113 mortar version. Also italeries LAV series.

[:D]thanks Curtis,i just finished my universal carrier m2 from tamiya.it went together nice,i have done some weathering, im now doing a base for it,decal are Canadian 3rd infantry div.i will try to post pics soon.[:D]

thanks working on a Canadian M113 UN version had to gather up some resign fuel tanks and lights should look pretty good.

On the topic of Canuck Armor, as I’m a 1/72 scale fellow myself I’m always keeping an eye open for Canadian Armor in that scale. Well I just discovered ACE is hoping to release the Grizzley, Cougar and their AVGP brethern in 1/72 soon:

I can’t remember the name of it, but there is a company out there that does conversions for Canadian armour. I know they have a conversion kit for the Leo, they have another for the M-113. I wish I could remember the name. It will probably come to me in the middle of the night. They have a website. If you google “Canadian armour conversions” or something like that you’ll probably find it.
This place has decals and reference material for building canadian armour

I rember the the company also. You can also get decals for “canuck” armour from jbot decals in all the known scales.I forgot three kits for Cdn. armour italeries M-109 A6,tymiya’s M-113 fire support(easy convert for ADATS just need new turret)and tamiya’s humvee W/bushmaster cannon(UN op. over all white with black UN on hood, sides, and black Cdn. flags on back upper corner.

After thaught.Go to www.forces.gc.ca for refrence photo’s and info on vehicle. Also the name of that company that makes convertion kits for the leo. and M-113 is maple leaf models.

Maple Leaf Models is the conversion I got from a friend great stuff

Hey you guys , Canadian armour modellers, let’s not forget the Centurion . A good site is Armoured Acorn , Canadian Armoured Website , at http://www.armouredacorn.com/
This site has alot of good information, about markings , and camoflage schemes , for Canadian Armour , plus stuff from other nations. So long live the Centurion , and Happy Modelling !

I used Revell’s Leopard A1-A4 with conversions to build a canuck tank. Do we still have operational leos?

Yes , we do still have Leopards , in the form of the Leopard C2. A good start point for a conversion , would be the 1/35 Revell Germany , Leopard 1A5, kit #03028. The " Leo" C1 , had a “flat sided” turret, where as the " Leo" C2 has a cast turret, with additional armor.

the cast armour is actuly bolted on lie the panzer 4’s.

Zokissima , we still have operational Leopards, in the end they will be in Gagetown N.B. , and Wainwright , Alberta. NDHQ ( National Defence Head Quarters) ,( AKA , The Extraordinary League of Idiots, or Officers , that are close to retirement , and have their fingers , in the " Corporate Pie" some where.) in Ottawa are trying to get rid of the tank. But thank God , we have a few good Officers , who want to keep the tank , and a cadre of soldiers , to maintain , and train soldiers on them.

That’s the one I had seen! Thanks. Here is their website:

Hey Frank, are/were you a Strathcona? I served some time in the reserves about ten years ago, (17th Recce, PEIR) and met a couple of the Strathcona’s during my tenure–great bunch of guys and not quite as crazy as them VanDoos! [:D]

Yeah, it’s sad that the Leo’s being phased out, but I can’t say that NDHQ is entirely wron. If you read the ‘Corporal’s Report’ (you can fid it at SFU’s CASR website) they make a good argument for a ready reaction force built around the Pirahna chassis.

Just FYI and IMO [:)]

Long live the Leo!

I found the site with the Cdn. markings it’s www.jbot.ca

I wanted to be a tank commander but when I herd of the fasing out Idecided I will just be a gi. ocdt. (still got 11 years to go though).

I was just on the Canadian Forces website and I saw with Canadian humvee’s in Afghanistan. They are the standerd M-1025 but with a C-9 in place of the M-2 and four smoke dischargers on each side of the roof.[:D]

I could be wrong, but I think those are on loan/lease from the US. I’m not a huge Hummer fan myself–find them too wide and clunky, but I’m glad the Iltis (God love her–spent many a cold wet night huddled under the tarp in the back of one [:p]) is finally getting the retirement she’s needed for awhile now.

Looking forward to her replacement–the G-Wagen
