Can formula 409 or windex remove gunzo colour paint successfully?
As long as they are ammonia based, they should work fine.
Formula 409 is does not contain ammonia, and will probabaly not work very well. In fact, my experience is that it may not be incompatible with Tamiya, Model Master, and Polyscale, as well as Future. I don’t use Gunze, but I think it would be a safe bet that 409 won’t do well with them, either.
409 used to be my primary acrylic solvent for everything, but apparently the formula changed, and I no longer use it for much of anything.
Try Windex. Isopropyl 90% should also work, but it will be slower than Windex.
409 with the orange oil in it will strip it off, it even works somewhat on enamels… I haven’t tried the regular stuff but take the previous word that it doesn’t work… also Castrol Super Clean and Simple Green which you can get in the auto section at Wal Mart or the auto store strip anything up to enamel and even lacquer if it hasn’t had time to sit too long (as in more than an hour or two)
Be careful and wear gloves with the last two because they can also strip the oils from your skin and cause some rough, scaly feeling hands!!!
That’s interesting—I may try the “orange” 409 and Simple Green for cleaning. Some of these new “citrus” cleaners are pretty fantastic, if you’ll pardon the pun.
