Hi guys, dose anyone have pics or an idea for what I can do? I was going to do a basic Dark Yellow, Red Brown and Dark Green camo, but was wondering if there was something different I can do.
umm for the H, you could do a green and yellow cammo pattern, for the J, you’d pretty well have no option but to do the Red, Green Yellow thing man, according to my references, “Squadron/Signal- Panzer IV in Action”.
Anthony, The pz v H would have been seen in numerous colors, the most popular being dark yall, dark green, and dark yello dark green, red brown. You alo would have seen them in all dark yellow and probably a few with just red brown in top of the dark yellow.
It really depends on the Unit and time frame of your build.
If the instructions say h/j IU beleive that means it gives you a choice.
the kit he built was an AUSF H… you can tell by the exhaust pipes… and the Turret traverse which was eliminated and changed to a 2 speed hand gear. That’s really the only diff between the H and the J… Later J’s had a differently cast rear Idler, but SOME h’s used it. The real only difference between the H and the J was the elimination of the Turret Traverse… they needed the materials for other things at that stage of the war as the J came out pretty well near the end!
i did this color scheme on my imperial pz3h and it looks cool but i hate the skirts because they block out ALL the detail of the tank ( although they help at the same time because i lost one of the return roller wheels )
as for your pz4, i vote for this one although i don’t know if it’s the right model:
the winter whitewash is cool and all but always looks kinda boring, to me at least. just an opinion.
That’s probably Academy’s reissue using Tamiya old panzer IV molds, which will make it an ausf H. Achtung Panzer has some detailed info for the updates done from a ausf H to ausf J, about two paragraphs. Check it out and see if the parts mentioned is on the sprues as optional parts for the ausf J conversion.
