Calling RAF fans: Avro Vulcan info

Another potential “History You Can Model” article subject I’m toying with is the Avro Vulcan. It’s a little dodgy because so far the only kit available right now appears to be the 1/72 Airfix. However, a bigger sticking point would be getting rights to a photo of a Vulcan to run with the article. Can anybody suggest a potential photo source?

hi lawrence,
i have negatives of the vulcan, taken at east midlands airport(uk),
if you want them , i can post them to you.

Go to www.ask.com and type in “pictures of a avro vulcan” in the box and you will have 18 pages of websites with plenty of pictures of an avro vulcan. God the internet is a great resource center.[:D]

Lawrence,

I have many photos of a Vulcan taken at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, Louisiana. They have one on display there. Many different angles, including wheel wells, landing gear, etc. Unfortunately, no engines or cockpit shots, as those had been either removed or covered over. Let me know via the e-mail address below, and I’ll make them available to you.

There is a gallery of the Vulcan by Bryan Ribbans, and there is another by Phil Juvet

If you feel like making a road trip, there is one on display at the Strategic Air Command Museum in Nebraska. Before the plane was decommissioned, there had been a Squadron stationed at Offutt A.F.B, Ne
