It’s very late notice, but the Southern Expo organisers called me to offer me (us, ie FSMers) a small space at the Southern Expo that’s taking place on the 13th and 14th of March in Hornchurch, North of London (within the M25 area still).
The space is limited (6ft table) but there might be ways of extending it. The original idea was to have a space there to advertise the Big Meet planned in the US at the end of the year, but even if there seem to be little progress there, we could still be organising our little ‘get together’ at Hornchurch. And if we go this year, it will be easier to get space, more of it, over the next few years.
I have a friend of mine, a very good modeler from Belgium with me that week end and we had been planning to go to the show on Sunday anyway. Now, I could still drop off some stuff on the Saturday morning before our ladies take us for “their” day of shopping. Could anyone man the stand on Saturday? Who would be able to be there both days? Who could bring in models for display? Do we do a themed display?

Thanks for your reply Karl. Looks like only Greg (Gregers) and I will be able to make it, only on the Sunday though… I’ve asked for a table for that day, but I doubt they’ll agree to that.
There’s a small but good show in Welling, near Dartford fairly soon I think (April?), or the MAFVA Nationals in Duxford, but that’s over the summer. Don’t know of anything else. Might need to check the mags.
Michael, the Welling show is real small, although the quality level at the comp is generally very high. It’s on the 24th of April. The main thing about the Welling show is that there’s a shop real close by where you can find just about anything in terms of modeling & reference mags and books seconhand. It’s also close to London.
The Duxford show is only AFV, and if you’re not a MAFVA member, you can only enter a single class, which is a bit of a pain. But also a good show to hunt for references and kits.
