Calling all reference gurus

I’m trying to find some good shots of the F4F Wildcat landing struts. I’ve googled to no avail. Any sites that are worthy? Thanks…

Andy

Hope this helps.

I took a pic at the Air and Space Museum… hope this helps.

Let me know if you’d like it in a larger size.

Got this shot at the Palm Springs Air Museum.

These shots I took at the Reno Air Races last year aren’t zeroed in on the land gears like the above photos, but they may prove helpful non-the-less. Just click on the image to view a much enlarged version of it and you can make out the landing strut detail.

Thanks for the response and help. Good pics …

Sorry wulf, don’t mean to change the subject but in espins first pic there looks to be a gun installed in the inboard wing position and stains on the wings. But I have seen gun residue stains on aircraft before and I’ll bet those were painted on (look very fake). If they were it’s a detail you don’t often see on restored warbirds. I also know in some shows they do fire blanks. I also know not all restores have there teeth. Know anything about that aircraft espins?

I’ll see what I can find out about it. I’ll bring those photos to our next IPMS meeting and I know some of them are involved in the air races and may be able to shed some light on it.

[#offtopic] As a side note, if you look closely in the upper left hand corner of espins first photo (the enlarged version), you can see an F-16C(?) in a 90-degree bank away from the camera. Just thought I’d point that out . . .
