Love the build man…superb execution. I have the same kit in my stash…seeing this build got me excited about building the Spectre. Gotta finish the Bear first…
What a great build my friend! I like the camo job, looks flawless!
I want to build one (1/72 scale because if I go with the 1/48 I will have to leave my bedroom!!! LOL) in the colours of ones of the Argentinean C-130 used in my country Antartic campaignes…
well again congratulations on a great build, I realy like the figures to! Give a sensation of how big this thing is…
best regards
Jeremias
This is sweet. I’ve had this kit in my stash for several years and your giving me the itch to build her.
Nice job.[bow]
YES! A rootin’ toot’n job on that Spectre, Lloyd. Quite a war plane and you’ve done it justice. (flatten them thar tires a smidgen and perfection to the max!)
…ghostmech, Wowie to your model too. Fantastic jobs one and all.
There was a time (circa 1975-1985) were I actually got sick of seeing C-130s overhead! Imagine! But being near McClelland AFB they dominated the skyscape there. Now I can sense a Hercules flying over from behind a half dozen closed office doors and over the din of office hens. Not that they’re particularly loud or anything (C-130s), they just have ‘their sound’. C-130s have a condition that was a hope of all transports before them…, “power to spare”. The mighty Hercules is well named. They’re completely OVER powered!
Nowdays nary a flight… 'cept for the Coast Guard’s GORGEOUS, GLEAMING WHITE 'N ORANGE birds that haul arse around here from time to time. The damn things actually sparkle.
Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it. I think my C-130 will be in the readers gallery in the next Finescale issue. I’m not sure which image they’ll use, should be interesting.
I’m working on a 1/32 F-18 carrier deck dio at the moment. I’m sculpting and casting the deck-crew myself because I like doing things the hard way[:D]
Incredible work man!
Is this kit still in production? I have been getting ready to go on a C-130 kick and I have found if I am going to build something it is almost easier to build 2 similar versions at the same time.
The 1/48 C-130J is still on GreatModels… But I can’t find the 1/48 AC-130 on GreatModels or Squadron.
Great Looking Model…I really like your base and figures.

Hi Lloyd. Great work on the Gunship. She looks beautiful. I was wondering, which ship were you trying to depict? From the nose art, it looks like First Lady. I grew up playing on both First Lady and Azrael. If you’d like to add some more detail to the plane, I can get you the names of Flight Engineers, Pilots, Co-Pilots, Radar, and Gunners to add to the side of the plane. My dad was Azrael’s and First Lady’s Crew Chief and Flight Engineer when they were retired in 1995 at Duke Field, Eglin AFB, FL. Thanks again for the sharing your amazing build. Cheers!
Excellent build! [t$t]
Thanks! That’s quite a connection to this aircraft. I’m not sure if this Italeri model is still around, but I just went with the 1st decal option. The model is on top of a display cabinet wrapped in cling film for that last 4 years, so I’ve forgotten what it looks like!
That’s one way to keep dust of of 'em…of course you can’t even tell there’s a model underneath all that, but oh well…
Here now ! I thought I would let mine languish in stack for another year. You are now responsible for another plane on my ceiling. What a gorgeous build !
I guess I,ll do the U.S.C.G. version of the C-130 also ! TANKER-builder
Wow! That is all I can say!
