G’day All,
Just looking for your opinions on a decent C130 Hercules kit preferably in 1/72 scale. Anybody know what the Italeri kit is like…or anybody know of any better?
Thanks in advance folks.
Regards,
Bob

I have the Italeri C-130H kit, unbuilt. Looks decent in the box. Raised panel lines, but nicely molded, with no flash.
I think Heller and Airfix both make 1/72 Hercs, too.
Actually, not too sure about the Heller…
Bob there is a review/gallery of Italeri’s C130H Hercules on www.hyperscale.com go to the galleries section 2002-2003 Hope this is of help

If you have the space, why not go for the 1/48 Hercules? They have made several versions of both C-130 and AC-130 aircraft, so you have plenty to choose from. I have one in the box, pending a move to (much) bigger housing and plan to stretch it to make a KLu C-130H. Fit is good, the interior is basic but useable, and general surface detail is okay but not spectacular. Sure is impressive though.
G’day Bob,
This beast is the 48 scale Italeri H, [I didn’t build this model, but is part of the RAAF Contract], the Italeri is the most accurate of the C-130 kits in 72 scale, but as Filibert said it has raised panel lines.
The model photo is of the first C-130 the RAAF sent into Iraq as part of Iraqi Freedom, the decals are from Hawkeye Models.
If you ever decide to do a 48 C-130j I’m doing the conversions to suit the ‘H’ kit
Glad to help.
Rob.
Thanks for the replies everyone. I might have to look around for the 1/48 as suggested.
Nice Herc, Rob. Looks pretty big…might have to move the wife’s crystal cabinet to make room for one!!!
Regards,
Bob
