im building the revell of germany c-17 and the color it asks for is a stone gray color which is too light to me ive seen pictures of the real thing and it looks to me like a gunship gray so anybody know what the real color is ??? [:-^]
Air Mobility Command Gray, Testor’s has it in the Modelmaster enamels.
The FS# is 36173 for AMC gray, if you wanted that as well.

If you prefer rattle cans Tamiya Neutral Grey is pretty close to AMC grey.
I’m not going to argue with those that have more experience than I, but I had the same question when I built my C-17. While the FS says one shade, the model paint, at least to my eye, does not match pics of the real aircraft. The real aircraft looks much darker than the model paint match. Looking at the build in an old issue of FSM and comparing it to pics it just does not look the same. The box art on the ROG kit is a better match for what the real deal looks like. And, to me, that is gunship grey. My C-17 will never see a contest table and was built to please my eyes only. I think it looks good in the gunship grey. Good luck with picking the color.
yea thats what i was thinking too more into the gunship grey. ive seen the c-17 at airshow and it doesnt look anything like the color air mobility grey looks more like a gunship grey to me
Did you see my thread on my C-17 from a few months ago? There are pics of it in there. Not the best pics but you can see it in GSG.
