I just saw The Flight of the Phoenix (that new movie with Dennis Quaid). I want to find a model of the C-119 Flying Boxcar? that crashed in the fierce sand storm. Does anyone know which companies have models of this plane?
thanx again[:p]

Theres only one out there. The Testors 1/72 C-119.
There is a Italeri AC119-K gunship. I believe this is the same aircraft as a C-119.
K, thanx
There is alot of differance between the gunship and the standard C119
You could overcome this, but I would advise trying to hunt down the Testors kit to save some hassle.
The Testors kit also has raised panel lines.
One day I plan to build the one I have in the closet.
Oneday!
The Testors kit and the Italeri kit are the same model and they did both a cargo and a gunship version. Both are not in release right now but shop around

helicopters don’t fly, they beat the air into submission
Actually they (at least the Italery version) are in- and out production about every two years or so. I suspect with the new movie they will be IN production in 2005.
Hey,
You guys forgot the OLD Aurora kit! I think was 48th or close. I remember
it was big, at least it was when I was 7!
Good Hunting,
G.W.
I had that kit. But I think it was 1/72.
If you want to model the C-119 in the movie, you need to find the 1/72 Testor/Italeri kit of the C-119G. The gunship is a K model and is molded with a different nose. Also, the C-119 in the movie is equipped with a 3 prop instead of the 4 prop config.
Quite a few of the late production C-119s were equipped with R-3350 engines with 3 bladed props vs the R-4360 with 4 paddle blades per engine. [alien]
If one remebers the orignial Movie with Jimmy Stewart the plane was not an C-119 Flying Boxcar it was a C-92 Packet the 119’s parent
