Burned out tanks

The wonderfull dml panther a tank that i bought’s future isnt one of curbside wonder. I will be disabled. I was going to knock the tracks off of one side as if it were shot by a t-34 along with some peeled back side skirt action going on. For the burned out section i was wondering what you guys do. I was thinking something along the lines of weathering powders but what about the paint?

Anyway i was jsut wondering how you guys would destroy a panther A that got its tracks blown off…lost control…fell off the road…down a hill.

Well i know its a lot to ask but i have to start somewhere.

Thanks i owe you guys

Awasoda,

Check this site out for pics on destroyed/knocked out vehicles, it might serve as a guide for recreating the unfortunate demise of your Panther. [:D]

For my burned out tanks I painted the burned area black and then covered it with rust iron pastels.

Hope this helps.

for smoke, I take some nylon stuffing like that found in pillows, spray paint it various shades of grey and black, and maybe add a wire or two inside it to give it shape. then I just attach the ‘smoke’ to where ever it would bellow out of a burning tank

zim would get the destroyed bad huh, wouldnt it just blow off nice nice

Ok, here is what i do. first, if the burnt out section is at the tracks, then you will need to get some Panther burnt out road wheels to make it look like the rubber has burnt off. or what you could do is grind the rubber part off, or do it on one, and then make some resin copies. Painting and weathering wise: i usually paint it black, then lightly go over with a rust color, then take some orange pastels and then “blotch” in some areas to make some variation. then make a pile of ashes with black, grey and whit pastels, white accenting the brunt rubber and zimm.

You cant do that to a Panther [:O]

actually if you want to do it to a panther, you should use Tamiyas G as there is separate, to let it look like the torsion bars have given way through to the heat, you could cut the dragon separate of and reglue them

i tried lighting a candle and keeping the model well above the falme (not too close or else it will really be a burnt out tank!!) the smoke will usually color it allittle. a bit patience will get some real smoke color. make sure nothing is flammable around it too!!!

Same here… I made a nice burned-out PZ-II with a lighter and some rust-colored paints… The Matilda had a field day with it.

Very nice link Bill. Thanks for sharing it with us.
