Hello every one, I am in the process of building a spray booth. I just purchased a cabinet that will make a great booth. I need a exhaust blower motor for it. Does any one know what kind of motor would work and were to purchase it.
Thanks for your time.

Hey MARK956
There was a very good article on building your own paint booth in Finescale Modeler. The on site index says that it was in the December 2000 issue. That may be right, but I was thinking it was a more recent issue.
The exhaust motors that they recommended were from Grainger Supply. A wholesale company. You may be able to purchase it yourself but if not, find a friend who has an automotive shop or works for one. They should be able to get one for you.

This link gives a lot of good info on how to calculate how strong of a blower you need. I can’t vouch for it’s accuracy, but it sounds right.

Okay Mark, I stand corrected. It is the December 2000 issue. I just dug it out to check. I really need to get a better filing system!
The author explains everything you will need to know to purchase your exhaust fan.
Have fun. I really need to start on one for myself. []

Grainger will sell to the public if you have a grainger store in your area such as I do…here are a few online articles and websites that were passed to me you may find interesting…

Thank you, Chris.
I wasn’t real sure about their policies. It’s nice to have this info. And thanks for the links. As I said, I need to build me one, too.

I just used a cardboard box from an HP scanner. I cut off one of the longer flaps, and cut the corners off the two shorter ones. It looks exactly like the commercial verisions except in cardboard. I cut a hole for a piece of dryer tube with a pice of fiber filter from a a/c unit, and then made another jerry-rigged adapter to hook up to the fan above my stove. Works like a charm and cost me nothing. No muss no fuss. The only complaint my wife has is that my compressor is too loud.
P.S. I’ve had it for more than 2 years now too!
