Hi all,

I’m working on my first Russian APC model in 1:35th scale. It’s going together quite well and I’m thinking ahead to the painting stage. The kit (Zvezda) instructions refer to a pale grey and dark green ‘splotch’-type scheme for use in Afghanistan, but when I tried to research this I found a dearth of information both in my own library and on the web. There’s plenty of specification data to be found on the type, Google came to the rescue there, but colors and markings were more elusive, as were simply color photos of the vehicle.

Can anyone recomend a book, magazine or website which might verify or refute, or at least refine, the kit’s detail and painting information?

A Concord book “Armor of the Aghanistan War” has several color pictures of BTR’s in this paint scheme. It’s authentic.

Hi Kaleu,

Thanks for the steer – I seem to recall having seen a photo of a BTR model in this scheme years ago but couldn’t really bring the details to mind, and one tends to be wary of the authenticity of kits from companies whose product you’ve never built before. Still, I guess a Russian company would be in the best position to get the details right on Russian equipment!
