Hi guys ,here is a Hasegawa 1/72 Fw-190F-8 in the colors of the
Hungarian airforce)
Decals are from the kit.It was basicly built OOB 'cept for seat belts,
brake lines and gun barrels.
The kit went together like a dream.I screwed up the decals for the
side instrument panels and had to replace them with parts from a
donor Academy D-9.
References came from pictures of the Fw-190F-8 at the NASM museum.
Hey Obiwan, nice job!! I built the same kit in the same markings last year and it took a first at the Region 3 IPMS show in Atlanta. Having said that let me say I think your looks better than mine! Very nice job on the build and the camo work. The only photos I found of this bird showed it without the wing bombs being carried though I added them as you have. Did you find any photos of this a/c with the bombs?
That’s 1/72nd? Dang…you did an excellant job on the build. I also dig the hungarian markings (then again, I luv hungarian dogs - Vizsla’s- as well).
Did you paint the spinner?
Joe ,thanks for for such a generous compliment.I would like to see your plane to see how it looks.
I didn’t do much research on the subject as I just wanted it to look as good as the box art. Then I added the bombs to make it look meaner. My main inspiration was an article in TMMI of the same kit but in German markings(that was an awesome build)
wibhi2 ,the spinner stripe is a decal. When I do this type of decal again I will trim it more.I had to put lots of microsol many times to get it to sit properly.
As requested…here are a couple photos of last year’s build of my 1/72 Hungarian 190F-8. It was just before I started adding antennae wires to all my a/c builds. It was probably my best build of 2003 but not up to what I’m doing now.
There is now even a skin of this a/c on my Forgotten Battles Flight sim game!
ninedriver ,hey now I remember seeing these pics.I can see why
your plane won at the competition.I like the subtle way you did the camo and weathering.Forgotten battles ?I got to check that out.
Thanks for posting the pics ,now this thread looks like a mini group build.
