Hello, I am building Academys 1\48th TBM-3 Bunkerhill. I am using Accurate miniatures Instructions as the information is much more detailed, But one of the paint call outs I can not find Bronze Green ,is there a acrylic paint in this call out or A close match? Thank you I will keep looking but any advice wo be great. Have a great day.
The only companies i know that do Bronze Green is Humbrol and Xtracolor. Its a British army color used to paiunt vehicles, so odd that it would apply to a US aircraft.
Rory,
I’m about to build the 1/48 Hobby Boss TBF-1 Avenger which calls for the same colour, Bronze Green.
I have the following from Mr. Paint;
http://mrpaint.sk/USA?product_id=197
Edit: See following post for update.
Is this for the cockpit. I’ve got an Academy 72nd TBF-1 to build soon and i had not checked what the internal colours were yet.
Actually I have a correction, the paint’s I have are Field & Interior Green from Mr. Paint.
Based on the ipms information that should about cover it, ipms mentions the use of Bronze Green but the Interior Green (I think) is a close match.

Thanks for the link. I am doing a very early one and have some Xtracolor Bronze green anyway, so may try that.
I’ve seen the bronze green suggested for interiors that I am sure were originally interior green, and wonder if some mfgs believe the bronze green is easier to find than interior green (certainly not the case in my area).
I agree with Don. If it’s a call out for the interior / cockpit then Interior green is what you want. I do know for a fact Vallejo carries Bronze Green color.
When I typed in Bronze in paint4models website, I get only the bronze call out. If I type in Green, you will find 4 variation of Bronze Green call out by Federal Standard number.
Thanks for all the help, glad to know interior green will work as I have this colour but next time I am at My LHS I will check out the Vallejo line up for bronze green and see if it is a close match . Thanks again Happy modelling all.
Bronze Green, Dark Dull Green and Interior Green are three different colors, and seemed to be floating around cockpits in different ways, before and during WWII.
You can get more of the story here:

Don’t know about acrylics, but in enamels, Sovereign Colourcoats makes Bronze Green
as well as Dark Dull Green and Interior Green.
The USAAF used Bronze Green in early B-17 cockpits; the US Navy used Bronze Green in cockpits for F4F-3 and -4 Wildcats, so it was a color that made the rounds.
Bronze Green is close to USMC Green, a 50’s thru 70’s era color used on vehicles, FS# 34052. Model Master makes it in both their enamel and acrylic lines. Also, have a look at IJN Dark green, which is a dark bronze green. I believe the Tamiya and Gunze shades of this color will work
But yes, not all US aircraft cockpits were Interior Green. As mentioned above, Dull Dark Green, Bronze Green, Olive Drab, Black, and even Neutral Gray was seen on the crew areas of various aircraft types. Not to mention companies like Bell Aircraft having their own green that they used on their own manufactured aircraft. Dana Bell has done some great research and published good information on this subject.
yes it is for the cockpit.
Thank you , There are so many variants in color and color call outs that it can be very confusing, Every person on this forum has there own knowledge base and skill set it makes for a great community and a wealth of ideas and information. Thank you all for your help.
