Bronco - Imperial Chinese Beiyang Fleet Flagship ‘Ting Yuen’ 1/350.

I ran across this in my local hobby shop. Looked very interesting and somewhat unique, but I have never heard of Bronco Models before. Can anyone enlighten me on the quality of this kit and/or Bronco in general? It appears that the kit comes w/ PE as well.

I built the model for the “castles of steel” group build here so see my comments there. It’s a good model, pre dreads are a bit of an acquired taste. The included PE does the job.

i have both of these and the 2 protected cruisers. have not built them but they look nice, good instructions, good PE, good color guide. really don’t need any AM stuff. i will rig mine with E-Z LINE streachale model RR “thread”

Check this list and see if anything on it suits you:

There are a few USN auxiliaries among the others in the list.

This was meant for the other thread about Task Force 38, I think!

The Bronco battleship is a nice model. It’s slide molded with the latest state of the art technology, so there’s stuff like boats with undercut thwarts, and holes in barrels.

I bought a wood deck too, though I generally dislike them, because the ship has a HUGE deck.

If you care to, the history is pretty involved. The ship and her sister were built in Germany and were pretty much ship rigged for the first year or so. She was really divested of masts, boats and other delicacies prior to her big battle.

If you search online, there’s a replica museum ship with nice 360 views. The ship is somewhat crude, but very worthwhile to look through.

I started work on the Chih Yuen cruiser by Bronco before it met an untimely demise and the fit of the kit and level of detail was amazing! The etch in the box was very nice too! I dont think you can go wrong with these kits at all.
