Here’s a 1/12 Britten V-1000 that I completed some time ago - it’s actally a resin copy that I made of an original pewter kit (originally crafted by master modeller Jim Wylie in New Zealand for The Britten Motorcycle Company) - and I made many and numerous inprovements on Jim’s kit.

Wow. Such an odd finish… yet strangly captivating…
Very very nice. I was in the NZ national museum yesterday and they have one on display. It was a fantastic bike and had a lot of success in the US. I understand that the original kit was a bit problematic to build and they are no longer available.
I love it! The pics show that you’ve done a stunning job painting it as well. The close up of the engine have no signs of imperfection when it comes to the paint.

Mark, yes, the original kit was extremely problematic…a serious work of art sculpted by Jim Wylie, but hard to put together. What you see is actually a resin copy of his kit, HEAVILY modified and detailed…more than 12 months work (off and on). A serious case of anal retentiveness (mea culpa) and OCD.
And Martin, the MGB is sorta kinda still in bits and is probably no closer to being on the road than it was 6 months ago. Oh well…
firstly i must say the model looks magnificent,
I am currently building one of these myself. My first endeavor at a white metal model kit. The material certainly has some interesting properties.
it is a bit different to a plastic kit in that it has surface pitting, and a few dross spots in the finish to contend with.
Did you have a problem with the fit of the rear piece of the front guard? I ended up squeezing it in a vice, and then re‑flattening the (now rounded) top of the part. (that was/ is the only major issue I have had to deal with so far).
I will be posting a thread on the build shortly… when I can tear myself away from the work bench long enough to get on the computer. LOL.
As this is a consignment build, I hope to have the thing finished within the next few months.

It was A LOT of work to make the model look this good…the good man himself, Jim Wylie wrote to me and told me it’s the best model he’s seen made from his kit…it sure was a labor of love.
I can’t really recall any major fit issues -because all the bits I used were resin, it was easy to fix fit problems - I still have the original kit intact in my stash.
What brakes did you use for your bike? I am making a photoetch kit for my bike. Do you happen to have the mold for the bottom fairing and could you make another one?

Thanks for the compliments, guys…I’m pretty happy with it.
The brakes were off a Tamiya 1/12 Ducati 888 race bike…they’re Brembo Goldlines. The kit comes with AP Lockheed brakes, but the pic of the model on the box has the Brembos.
Sorry about the lower fairings…I’m not set up for resin casting anymore…I don’t have any materials any longer - sorry, mate.
