Can anyone tell what color British 1 gallon oil cans were painted in WWII?

Usually the same colour as the vehicle.
In North Africa … desert yellow, European Theatre - Bronze Green or a khaki drab.

If its anything like their modern vehicles (like my Land Rover ( ← shameless plug)), then it will definatly be in the same colour as the vehicle. I wouldn’t be surprised if the things weren’t even removed for painting…
