Hey All, I was wondering where a good source for small dia. brass tubing might be to use for aircraft gun barrels. Also, what would be some recommended sizes for 1/72 and 1/48 aircraft gun barrels. I understand that it may depend on the gun type but I would like to at least get a ball park estimate. Thanks for any assistance.

Instead of brass, you can use stainless steel syringe tubing. You can buy the stuff by the foot at Small Parts, and most sizes are fairly cheap, since 36" of any size will last you a lifetime. Use a Dremmel and a cutoff wheel to cut it to size: http://www.smallparts.com/products/descriptions/htx.cfm

jk jk jk Try hypodermic needles. Ones at drug stores come in various sizes and lengths, better yet are ones used by veterinarians. I stopped in and after explaining they were for hobbies they sold me a dozen for 1.60$! Being stainless steel you won’t need to paint them, or if you do the terrible ‘brass chip’ will not happen. I color mine with a lighter, heat will anneal the metal for a cool darker look.[H]

When I asked about this for my 1/24 190 cannon barrels at my LHS , it was pointed out to me to watch for barrel thickness ,or tubing wall thickness ,this may be RC but still relevant.For this scale I will use two tubes ,one inside the other ,soldered and finished on the end for suitable wall thickness.
