So. I’m sitting around with a broken leg and can’t get up the stairs to my study where I normally work on my models. However, with the help of my wife and a good mate I have been able to set up at the dinning table with some basic construction tools. Having been out of the hobby for some time I decided to get back to basics and chose some old 76th scale kits from the stash. Currently working on the Airfix Bofors and tractor, the Airfix 88 and halftrack, the Matchbox Char B1 bis and Renault light tank, the Airfix WWI male and the Hasegawa Mercedes staff car.
Because I can’t acess paints, some will only be built as basic sub-assemblies until I can paint them. I’m not bothering with detailing or references, just straight OOB and I’m having a ball. One thing I have to say about Airfix though, when it comes to ejection pin marks, Airfix rules!
When I work out how to load pictures I’ll post a couple, but I’ll have to get my daughter to take them as I only use my phone.
If you download a photo hosting app like Flickr, you can take photos with your phone, upload them to that site using their app and embed the photo into your posts here.
You’re right Bish, they are old, but I’m enjoying them. Ejection pin marks or not. I have recently purchased the new Airfix Lancaster and Swordfish, awsome kits. However I also purchased the new 1/48th Walrus, also magnificent, but the interior fuselage sides are covered in ejection pin marks, which surprised me. Can’t wait to build it though.
I only started building Airfix kits again a couple of years ago after avoiding them for ages. They have deffinetly come on a lot since i cut my teeth on them in the 80’s. We did have an Airfix Gb last year and that was very well supported.
i do some OTS (One True Scale aka 1/72) kits. i have a head light set that is USB rechargeable that works nicely but have never vwwn able to (or taken the time) to use magnifiers. With my 1/35 kits, if they have antennas, there comes a point where i start wearing safety glasses because i cannot use my glasses and i get real close. I have a friend who does only OTS and gets some reall bad kits like UM and worse. he lso will cut off the ssolid grab rails and make wire ones. I am not that dedicated.
I have a couple of TAKOM 537 8x8 trucks in the paint queue and a Trumpeter T-28 in the detail painting decal and weathering queue.
