It needs more “tire black” on the rubber rimmed road wheels. He-he-he.

So they finally finished restoring the bovington tiger…epic. The museum website has a link to the restoration page… very good reference photos there.

Bovington’s Tiger 1 is the only tiger 1 in the world that can still run. There are others out there, but they’ve been converted from t-34’s or t-55’s (see saving Pvt. Ryan or Band of Brothers-a t-34-converted tiger 1 is there). I think Tamiya used this one to do sound recordings and videos for their RC tiger. This is the only one I know of that still runs, cool huh?

Geeeeeeeee what scale is that ?..hehehehehe

I thought I read somewhere that the French had one at their armor museum or armor school. I think it’s at Saumur, but I might be wrong about that

Hey Brazen is that the Tiger that they captured in Tunisia??? If it is, Man they were working on that Tiger about 4 years ago. I had started to follow its progress and the stopped when I thought they were done with it. All I can say is that they did an awesome job.

Tamiyas sound recordings are from a Tiger II in the tank museum in Saumur France. As far as I know its not in working order, but the engine is.

And Feldgrau23! Yes it is the one they captured in Tunisia.

Thanks for the links, Brazen!
Good to see it’s alive and kicking.

The Tiger II at Saumer runs, I believe. They use it in a yearly parade of some sort.

The engine in the Tiger 1 at Bovington IS the one from Saumer, the Bovington engine threw a rod and blew a hole in the block the remmants are going to be displayed as a static model next to the Tiger…putting Ronson sorry Sherman engine in wouldn’t have been appropriate(Sorry Shermanfreak[bow]

Personally

…I think the camo is too light
…The indy links don’t have enough sag
…There should be a figure in the hatch if it is open
…The tow rope looks out of scale
…It has the command cuppola that’s on the “mid production” but that is actually…

Oh it’s real…nevermind

Anyway - that’s the one they had going a little while back - took it out for a spin and something blew or leaked so they brought it back in

Pretty sure that is the only functioning Tiger in existance ( and the “functioning” from what have heard is limited )

Rich, Yes thats the one captured in Tunisia.

History in the making right there… that is awsome. I wish I had the cash to order a print of all the pics on the restoration web site… if only

LOL!!![:D][:D][:D]

There getting it ready for the Tankfest on Sunday, where it will be driving for the first time in a public display
and i might just be there [:D]

Cool, Jon. Make sure you take some pics and post for us poor modelers that can’t be there!! (Hopefully, it won’t break down, again!!)

Actually, it wasn’t the first time the tank was put on public display. The journal says tank 131 of Tunisia was driven around England after it’s capture and made the front page of the local newspapers where it went to.

There getting it ready for the Tankfest on Sunday, where it will be driving for the first time in a public display since the rebuild, and the rumours are it will be its last to
And I might just be there

I may be mistaken, but I seem to recall that the Panzertruppenschule in Muenster has a Tiger II that is fully operational, and a few lucky cadets get to tool around in it during some ceremony, which is a blast for them. Hmm, wonder where I read that …

Well what do you expect from a real Tiger I?

[:D][:D][:D][:D]

Jon if you are going to be there then I want Pictures!!! Please, Pretty please with sugar on top!!!
